Seminar 04A - Identity and the Cloud: Preparing Your Campus

Tuesday, October 12 | 9:30AM–1:00PM | Meeting Room 205B
Session Type: E2010
Managing security and privacy is an ongoing challenge, compounded by the expanding interest in software as a service (SaaS) and cloud computing. A growing number of campuses are turning to federated identity access to services, through the InCommon Federation, as a solution. We will discuss the value the federation can provide to your campus infrastructure, explain the concept and benefits of participating in InCommon, and cover all of the facets of joining: campus policy requirements, preparing your identity management infrastructure, choosing and installing the appropriate standards-based software, and collaborating with other campuses and with resource providers. We'll also discuss how the federation and the concept of levels of assurance can enhance your security and privacy architecture.
