Seminar 18P - The "Horizon Report": A Hands-On Approach to Putting Theory into Practice (separate registration required)

Tuesday, October 15 | 1:30PM–5:00PM | Meeting Room 210A/B
Session Type: Professional Development
Each year, the Horizon Report identifies and outlines the key trends and technologies that shape the evolution of education. To make the best use of the report, it is essential to understand what it has to say about the big picture of educational technology, as well as how features of this picture are instantiated in real-world technologies. We will cover both aspects in this seminar. We will dissect the report and learn how it works by participating in a Horizon -type process, which can be readily adapted for use at any institution. We will get our hands dirty with several of the key technologies highlighted in the report, contextualizing this practice through case studies. Throughout the afternoon, we will focus on the challenges and opportunities encountered by participants in their own work, in order to translate the knowledge gained into direct and immediate practical applications.
