Dealing with Complexity: Supporting Research in a Competitive World

Wednesday, October 26 | 2:30PM–3:20PM | Meeting Room 210A/B, Level Two
Session Type: Breakout Session
Delivery Format: Discussion Session
The research ecosystem is becoming more competitive, and institutions need to adapt their research environments to new realities that will separate good institutions from great ones. It's about not only competition but also complexity: researchers, librarians, administrators, managers, and funders all have a role in managing the life cycle. Data, technology, and brainpower are breaking the boundaries of domains and facilitating interdisciplinary collaboration. Designing the future environment will help ensure researchers and institutions remain successful in attracting investments, managing compliance, and increasing visibility.

Outcomes: Identify the variety of IT tools, standards, and identifiers supporting the research environment * Identify strategies to deal with an increasingly data-driven research landscape * Compare strategies, approaches, and best practices from all over the world
