Campus Partners: Sharing the Same Context?

Thursday, April 07 | 9:30AM–10:30AM | Concerto D
Session Type: Professional Development
Even though we may speak the same language (i.e., English), we often interpret different meanings. This may lead to frustration and disappointment when working with campus partners because we thought we shared the understanding when we may have different contexts for our understandings. Collaborating with campus partners is a necessity for many in higher ed. To increase the chances of a successful partnership, being careful to create a shared context for the partnership at the outset is essential. The context should be revisited throughout the partnership to maintain a shared context. Assuming is lethal.

OUTCOMES: Explore the notion and importance of differing understandings * Construct methods for developing a shared context * Identify how these methods may be used on your campus
