On the Privacy Pyramid: A Framework for Privacy Policy and Practice

Wednesday, April 06 | 2:00PM–3:00PM | Concerto C
Session Type: Professional Development
Each day colleges and universities collect more and more data about students and their activities on campus and online. This data, collected in the SIS, LMS, and a multitude of other campus systems, are an incredible asset to the institution to uncover students' journeys and pathways to success. As institutions begin expanding this digital data footprint through cloud-based solutions, data privacy discussions must evolve to address the implications of the usage of these data. During this session, participants will explore a "privacy pyramid" framework and a real-world institutional experience of making the change from on campus to cloud-based infrastructures and systems.

OUTCOMES: Explore principles of data privacy that drive insights and actions * Identify the impact cloud-based solutions have on data accessibility * Develop a framework for effective data policies
