Putting the "Person" Back into Personalized Learning

Ironically, many of today's so-called personalized learning solutions seek to bypass student-instructor interaction in favor of algorithm-driven machine learning. Research studies suggest this misses something essential in the education experience. Join Maricopa County Community College District leaders for a show-and-tell about four strategies they are piloting to reassert the person in personalized learning: (1) creating efficiencies around personalized instruction; (2) using assessments as learning tools; (3) mapping enriched open educational content to personalized learning recommendations; and (4) enhancing student agency and metacognition.
