ELI Webinar | Taking a Different Path: Strategies for Personalized Adaptive Teaching and Learning

Personalized adaptive learning presents students with an individual learning experience by allowing them to progress on distinct learning paths through a course. In fall 2014, the University of Central Florida began a pilot study incorporating adaptive learning technologies for online courses. Two of the early adopters implemented unique strategies to optimize student learning. In this webinar, we will showcase the Math Pathway program (intermediate algebra, college algebra, trigonometry, and precalculus) and nursing pathophysiology course techniques from the faculty perspective. Challenges and practical considerations for richer student assessment will be addressed. We will also report on the approaches used to acclimate and support our faculty in the evolving adaptive learning landscape.

Outcomes

  • Identify the practical implications of utilizing adaptive case studies with variables and conditions
  • Describe strategies for longitudinal learning in Math Pathway
  • Discuss unique strategies for personalizing student learning
  • Explain different approaches that can be used in faculty development and support for personalized adaptive learning
