Federated Identity Management: Addressing the Risky Business
Federated Identity Management: Addressing the Risky Business
Wednesday, April 14 | 9:30AM–10:30AM | International F (6th floor)
Session Type:
Professional Development
With increased losses in PII data, regulatory compliance, and SaaS, the protection of identities becomes paramount for security professionals. Accessing restricted resources held by a partner can be risky for both parties. This presentation will include a discussion of federated identity, the InCommon Federation, what the security and policy dimensions are for campuses, and how federations can be used as a basis for real-time security exchange. Three major universities (Virginia Tech, Penn State, and USC) will address the fundamentals of federated identity management and will cite real-world experience at their institutions with establishing federated relationships.
