Seminar 01Z - Identity Management for Security Professionals: Leveraging Federations
PLEASE NOTE: Separate registration and fee is required to attend this seminar.

Wednesday, April 14 | 2:00PM–5:30PM | International E (6th floor)
Session Type: Professional Development
Two challenges facing the higher education community are managing security and privacy and integrating SaaS, or cloud computing, into the IT organization. This seminar is designed to explain how your identity management system can provide a foundation for these activities. We will explain how you can leverage two solutions developed by higher education—Shibboleth and the InCommon Federation—to create a robust IT architecture that can also enhance security and privacy. Demonstrations and discussion will provide you with a detailed understanding of (1) how identity management systems fit into a robust IT architecture that can enhance security and privacy, (2) how institutions can leverage standards-based solutions like SAML and the InCommon Federation to simplify collaboration with other institutions or vendors, and (3) how to use the concept of "level of assurance" to support a comprehensive security and privacy program.

Brought to you by InCommon and the EDUCAUSE Identity and Access Management Working Group
