A medium-sized, semirural community college has completed a high-speed Ethernet optical network that connects its two largest campuses. The extensive collaborations, cost justifications, network logistics, and beneficial services a 1-Gbps wide-area network can provide will be presented along with tips and resources for acquiring an optical network.
