Haute Software: Juggling Open-Source and Vendor Software

This session will illustrate lessons learned and provide recommendations for institutions contemplating the support of open-source applications while maintaining enterprise-level vendor software. Starting in 2004, Virginia Tech introduced an open-source portfolio and course management system (Sakai) and realized the additional support needs of open-source products.
