In an environment of reduced grant funding and tightening campus budgets, Rice University struggled to find a sustainable methodology for funding and delivering high-performance computing. The solution proved to be SUG@R, the Shared University Grid @ Rice, a condo-computing model for delivering computational power, system services, and support.
