Seminar 15P - Security Awareness for the Net Generation

Tuesday, November 03, 2009 | 2:00PM–5:30PM | Korbel Ballroom 4A
Session Type: E09 Hybrid
While today's students are more knowledgeable and comfortable with the Internet and computer technology than previous generations, they do not necessarily have the skills or exhibit behaviors to qualify them as "net savvy." Privacy, security, copyright, and intellectual property issues are among the legal, policy, and ethical challenges posed by Web 2.0 technologies that must be addressed as part of a student's educational experience. This seminar will explore resources and techniques for engaging students in the creation of learning environments and awareness programs that will help them acquire knowledge, develop skills, and establish behaviors that are essential for digital citizenship.
