Seminar 17A - Training and Retaining Students for the Help Desk

Tuesday, November 03, 2009 | 9:30AM–1:00PM | Meeting Room 605
Session Type: E09 Hybrid
This seminar will focus on the hiring process, training, competency testing, and retention of students who work in a help desk environment. It's critical to hire students with the right skill set, but this isn't easy to do in our highly competitive environment. The typical training required for new-student hires is complex and time-consuming.

Once trained, students are even more in demand by other employers, and retention becomes a critical issue. The techniques presented are general enough that they can be used by both small and large help desk operations. This session will be highly interactive and fun! You will receive handouts with interview questions, training schedules, and plenty of practical advice you can take home and implement.
