Seminar 19P - Using the DiAL-e Framework to Engage Learners with Digital Video Resources

Tuesday, November 03 | 2:00PM–5:30PM | Meeting Room 401
Session Type: E09 Hybrid
We will engage in a range of practical and cognitive tasks, extensively piloted in the United Kingdom, to develop a framework for the effective use of digital video in higher education. You will learn how to develop and use videos that range from teacher-focused activities (e.g., using video as a stimulus) to deeper cognitive activities (e.g., using video for analysis) to student-centered activities (e.g., authoring with video).

We will collectively critique a series of video examples produced to support the project and individually develop examples for your own use. If you have the required technical skills, you can repurpose an actual video resource and will be directed to additional help and assistance outside the workshop. Finally, you will leave the workshop with a range of freely available video resources for teaching and learning.

PLEASE NOTE: Feel free to bring a laptop with wireless connectivity and a web browser in order to access our online examples; however, a laptop is not required.
