Seminar 20A - CIO Grand Challenge: The Institutional Horizon

Tuesday, November 03 | 9:30AM–1:00PM | Meeting Room 505/506
Session Type: E09 Hybrid, Resources
CIOs must increasingly succeed at the institutional level, not just within the world of information technology. This highly interactive seminar will explore strategies CIOs can use to help their institutions and IT organizations succeed. Through presentations, Q&A, and small-group exploration of real-life scenarios, you will learn skills required to succeed at the institutional level. What strategies will help grow your institutional expertise while maintaining expertise with information technologies? What new skills do you need to succeed in both arenas?

Scenarios will include working effectively with senior leaders, building trust and relationships, leveraging budget cuts, identifying services with core value, and meeting the challenges of serving as a change agent. Each scenario will be followed by in-depth discussion and participation. These activities will build from the specific problem solutions toward a general understanding of methods to use in approaching unfamiliar situations.
