Tweeting the Night Away: Enhancing Social Presence with Twitter

To be truly effective, online learning must provide opportunities for students to engage in the social process of learning. In this presentation, we will describe our use of Twitter—a Web 2.0 microblogging tool—to enhance social presence in online courses by providing a mechanism for persistent social interactions.
