Cloud Challenges

Wednesday, October 13, 2010 | 11:30AM–12:20PM
Session Type: E2010
Having your head in the clouds used to signal impracticality. Today, having your head in the clouds means properly abstracting what you do from where you do it, gaining economies of scale and standardization: "outsourcing on steroids," if you will. But challenges lie ahead. We in higher education IT must connect robustly, identify users, protect data and services, regulate access, and balance load?all without having control and while working with others who are perhaps differently motivated. How do we meet these challenges?
