Clouds: From Both Sides Now

Wednesday, October 13 | 11:30AM–12:20PM | Ballroom A
Session Type: E2010
Influencing clouds is tricky. Sometimes the result is what one seeks, but often it's too much, too little, or in the wrong place. In light of this, meteorologists mostly leave clouds alone. We IT folks did the same until recently, buying services on vendors' terms or occasionally collaborating around shared services. But the climate is evolving rapidly. How should we proceed? Should we negotiate collectively with cloud vendors, create our own cloud enterprises, share best procurement practices, or what? If we negotiate, what do we bring to the table? If we create enterprises, how should we govern them? If we share, whose practices are best? These are among the questions we'll explore in this session.
