Open blogs and cloud platforms such as Facebook have great educational potential. This session will present how Penn State University's reengineering of its Biology 12 introductory biology lab course and Bot 2.0, an NSF-funded research project at UNC Chapel Hill to retain student interest in the biological and botanical sciences, used these web-based platforms and applications to create, manage, and deliver engaging content and increase student recruitment and diversity in biology.
