Seminar 02F - Becoming a Successful Technology Manager

Tuesday, October 12, 2010 | 9:30AM–5:30PM | Meeting Room 303D
Session Type: E2010
Being a technology manager means more than managing technology. As a manager, you have responsibility for managing people, understanding and negotiating institutional politics, and communicating effectively with staff, faculty, and other managers, in addition to knowing your technology, keeping up with its ever-present changes, and managing it well. In short, your job is immensely more complicated than you may have imagined. Designed for new technology managers, this interactive seminar will introduce you to basic management philosophy, give you a context for being a successful manager, and guide you to EDUCAUSE resources that can help you succeed in your new role as a technology manager.
