Seminar 05A - Turning IT Management Challenges into Leadership Opportunities

Tuesday, October 12 | 9:30AM–1:00PM | Meeting Room 206A
Session Type: E2010
IT leaders are under a constant barrage of daily management challenges, from making the simplest personnel decision to explaining the strategic value of a complicated technical issue to a senior administrator. These management tasks are often the foundation of building successful IT leadership based on trust and consistency. When handled properly and consistently, tough management challenges can be turned into strategic leadership opportunities. This dynamic presentation will offer wide-ranging examples of specific, real-life IT management and leadership issues—from the mundane to the sophisticated—for attendees to explore individually and with each other. These will be used to demonstrate specific methods for building trust and relationships across a broad campus constituency. Using a highly interactive format and the presenters' broad base of experience, these examples will actively engage the audience and make the case for the important bond between solid management principles and successful IT leadership.
