Seminar 07F - Development Zen: A Workshop for IT Leaders

Tuesday, October 12, 2010 | 9:30AM–5:30PM | Meeting Room 304D
Session Type: E2010
Our goal is to establish a new context and understanding for how to lead a technical organization while truly developing staff. Approaches to talent development vary by organization, often reflecting an organization's maturity, culture, and leadership. This workshop will focus on Stanford IT Services' leadership and talent development model. Using Stanford as a case study, we will share the roadmap we followed, the terrain we encountered, including the bumps along the road, and the lessons we learned. We will share tools, tips, and tricks for implementation, while focusing on what drives excellence in our organization. Stanford has been developing this model for about five years, and in that time, metrics have improved substantially. In addition, our customer satisfaction and employee satisfaction scores have soared. We will spend the bulk of the workshop on our model and how it is supported by an intersection of the latest neuroscientific thinking, management best practice, and experiential learning.
