Seminar 12A - CIOs and Enterprise IT: Tackling the Tough Issues

Tuesday, October 12 | 9:30AM–1:00PM | Meeting Room 209A
Session Type: E2010
The enterprise IT world is changing rapidly, as is the role of the CIO. Our spot "at the table" is no longer guaranteed. IT as a strategic asset in the university's future is being overwhelmed and undervalued due to fiscal crises and a facile understanding of cloud computing and next-generation technologies. Our ideas and methods must evolve to keep up. From January through June, CIOs and enterprise IT leaders took part in a seminar series that gave leaders an opportunity to contribute their voices to a national dialogue on the more challenging issues they face, including cloud computing, Web 2.0, and virtualization/server consolidation. The series produced rich content for understanding these issues and the evolving role of the CIO toward addressing them. These events included a mix of short presentations and discussions around strategies for addressing the tough issues facing our institutions. Content from these seminars can be found at:
