Join in a lively discussion and workshop on improving online course design and preparing faculty for the online and hybrid experience. You will engage in small- and large-group discussions, brainstorm, and strategize as you develop action plans specific to the needs of your institution. We will explore the role of faculty development within institutions that offer online and blended programming. With increased attention on the role and responsibilities of the online instructor, various aspects of effective faculty development programs will be addressed. Participants will discuss strategies and best practices for helping faculty manage their online workloads and gain an understanding of the issues related to engaging faculty in distance learning activities. Topics will include assessing online faculty competencies, defining online pedagogy, fitting technology to instructional strategies, establishing quality assurance, addressing administrative considerations and emerging technologies, and establishing metrics for faculty development.
