Department of Education Initiatives for Data and Information Protection

Wednesday, October 19 | 3:30PM–4:20PM | Meeting Room 108A
Session Type: E11
It's imperative for institutions of higher education to protect personally identifiable information (PII), especially in the context of student financial aid. Officials from the U.S. Department of Education, Federal Student Aid, will describe our shared responsibility for cybersecurity and solicit input on how the federal government can help campuses ensure the security of the assets that are part of the Federal Student Aid program. The department will announce plans to require two-factor authentication (TFA) and the formation of an advisory board comprised of individuals representing the postsecondary community. We will use this session to solicit ideas to help frame the goals and objectives of the advisory board. Brought to you by the EDUCAUSE & Internet2 Higher Education Information Security Council

Presenters
