R&E Communities in Europe, Australia, and Canada Use eduroam: Why Is the United States Behind?
This session will address lagging U.S. participation in eduroam, a worldwide service that provides encrypted, authenticated, and instantaneous access to Wi-Fi networks for faculty, staff, and students of participating institutions when traveling between schools. Around the globe, more than 2,000 institutions have joined the eduroam federation. The eduroam-U.S. federation had 2 participants in 2009 and 12 in 2010 and currently has 36.
