PLEASE NOTE: Separate registration and fee is required to attend this seminar.

Tuesday, October 18, 2011 | 2:00PM–5:00PM
Session Type: E112
Using a mix of presentation, facilitated collaborative discussion, and social media interaction, this seminar will review and explore methods that help empower higher education online instructors to become change agents in the practice of networked collaborative learning for their students. Topics that will be explored include online instructor professional development, networked collaborative and connectivist instructional strategies, and the analysis of discourse artifacts generated by networked collaborative learners.

At the end of this seminar, participants will be able to identify methods to invite online instructor participation in online teaching professional development; establish a networked collaborative learning course framework that supports learner-to-learner knowledge construction and demonstrates best practices; significantly contribute to constructing knowledge-sharing opportunities at their institutions; and list learning analysis methods that can be applied to discourse artifacts such as discussion forum threads, instructor-student communication, group project discussion, and third-party social media communication that provide assessment evidence of learning.
