This half-day seminar will introduce the basic concepts of benchmarking for higher education IT organizations. The seminar will then focus on the newly redesigned EDUCAUSE Core Data Service (CDS), a source of comprehensive IT benchmarking data for higher education since 2002. Attendees will be provided with an overview of the expanded content of the CDS, learn how to access and use it effectively, and identify next steps to apply the CDS data to their IT management and planning. Through online demonstrations and case studies, attendees will become familiar with data collection, selection of peer/exemplar institutions, downloading and analyzing comparison datasets, presenting results, and respecting the CDS Appropriate Use Policy.
