Seminar 05F - Balanced Leadership: The Role of Behavior Styles and Emotional Intelligence (separate registration required)
Recognizing behaviors and understanding the needs of people who exhibit those behaviors helps create more effective work and personal relationships. We'll build awareness of the different styles and discuss ways to communicate more clearly, accomplish desired change, and modify your own behavior when working with each style. We'll also focus on emotional intelligence and explore the crucial linkages between emotional intelligence, behavior styles, values, and leadership success over the long term. The realities we confront as leaders today make this concept crucial. An institution's ability to survive tomorrow's challenges depends to a large extent on whether its leaders can manage emotions in the face of change. For example, emotionally intelligent leaders remain focused and clear thinking under pressure. We'll introduce the concepts and key components of emotional intelligence, provide an assessment of individual EI competencies, and describe the impact of emotional intelligence on successful leadership.
