Seminar 07A - Designing Active Learning Spaces: A Hands-On Approach (separate registration required)

Tuesday, November 06, 2012 | 9:00AM–12:30PM | Meeting Room 503/504
Session Type: E12

Active learning classrooms support teaching and learning in a technology-rich, collaborative environment designed to engage students actively in their own learning. You'll have an opportunity to examine research and best-practice examples on the design of these environments and collaborate with peers to design your own active learning spaces. Areas of design will include architecture and layout, furniture, and technologies available for students and instructors to provide a complete picture of the design process. We'll examine new technologies for active learning and how to adapt them for use at your institution, discuss the research-based teaching and learning benefits of active learning classrooms, and use a principle-based design approach to create a plan for your campus.
