Seminar 09A - A Privacy Primer (separate registration required)
Privacy on campus has a different flavor than privacy in the private sector. An experienced university privacy officer will help navigate this sometimes bewildering topic. Privacy is the "why" to the "how" of security, so join us to understand the multiple laws, jurisdictions, technologies, and business models that converge on campus in today's enterprise. The privacy primer is your opportunity to get a solid grounding in this evolving, global field. Our expert speaker will lay a foundation to give you the structure and understanding to make the right decisions for your privacy initiatives on campus. You'll learn the multiple definitions of "privacy" and how privacy is managed as a policy issue, understand the basis for myriad privacy laws and regulations and how they intertwine, and explore how these issues and policies apply to the campus environment and the risks of not complying.
