Seminar 12P - Making IT Strategic: Crowdsourcing the Value of Information Technology (separate registration required)

Tuesday, November 06, 2012 | 1:30PM–5:00PM | Mile High Ballroom 4E/4F
Session Type: E12

Although IT systems and services have evolved into critical components of today's university administrative processes as well as in the way teaching, learning, and research transpire, the conceptual "commodification" of technology can lead to users making significant decisions about IT without consulting CIOs and their representatives. How do we become involved as a strategic partner in the exploration, planning, and implementation of current and future projects? In this session, participants will engage in one-on-one, small-team, and large-group discussions of various methodologies for accomplishing the goal of making IT strategic to the institutional mission. These discussions will provide a wide range of take-home strategies for each participant. In addition to generating tips to leverage IT's involvement in application planning and decision making, participants will also strategize how to best achieve recognition for IT's definitive role in these projects.
