Accessibility is a hot topic in higher education and one of considerable concern. Many institutions struggle to understand the needs of users with disabilities, gain expertise on the topic of accessibility, and develop systemic ways to keep up-to-date and stay in compliance. Learn how Penn State has been addressing the accessibility of their websites and online courses. This seminar will help participants understand the need for accessible web content and develop skills for evaluating and repairing web pages that may be inaccessible. We will demonstrate how the various tools that content creators commonly use in their professional lives can be used to create accessible content. We'll also introduce new tools and resources that can work with any existing workflow. Walkthroughs, practical tips, and hands-on experience for creating websites with accessibility in mind will be included. Participants can take the lessons learned and apply them to the processes they use in their everyday work.
