Seminar 14P - Principles and Practices: Building an Effective Social Media Toolkit (separate registration required)

Tuesday, October 15, 2013 | 1:30PM–5:00PM | Meeting Room 210D
Session Type: Professional Development
By now we've all heard a lot about social media and its use in higher education. Social media represents a powerful cultural shift in communication, relationships, and information. Although specific platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and Pinterest may not be with us forever, the larger change they wrought about will continue to have a significant impact on how we live and work. As a result, we believe it is vitally important to talk about not only specific social media sites but also the key principles behind the emergence and use of social media. Through discussion, hands-on activities, and use cases, this session will encourage participants to consider the opportunities and constraints of social media while emphasizing underlying principles and how to apply them using diverse tools across various contexts.
