Seminar 1P - Charting the Course for Gamification in Higher Education: Strategies for Success (separate registration required)

Tuesday, October 15 | 1:30PM–5:00PM
Session Type: Professional Development
Game-based learning has become a popular topic at academic conferences, but most presentations fall short of addressing the most important questions that higher education must answer to ensure successful implementations. By taking a critical and systems-wide approach to implementing the most promising gamification concepts affecting higher education within the foreseeable future, this seminar will facilitate an important and rare conversation between faculty, instructional designers, administrators, and technology support personnel to help plan for successful implementations of game-based learning. Only by looking at gamification from a systems-wide perspective will higher education be able to manage and implement game-based learning to its maximum benefit. We will go beyond the hype and tackle the important questions necessary to usher in one of the newest and most complex forms of media that higher education has yet to fully recognize.
