The recent explosion of research in the learning analytics field has been primarily characterized by small scale or tool-centric approaches. No institution will achieve a system-level application accidentally. Intentional planning needs to occur, focusing on the emergent and iterative nature of organizational change, as well as the importance of building institutional capacity.
OUTCOMES: Understand the need for systemic thinking regarding learning analytics regarding growth in higher education * Understand the importance of the relationship between competency building, strategic thinking, and student success vis-à-vis learning analytics * Compare and contrast two different models as a way to build organizational competencies
