The Importance of a Cybersecurity Education

Wednesday, October 28, 2015 | 11:30AM–12:20PM | Sagamore Ballroom 5
Session Type: Professional Development

The need for properly trained cybersecurity professionals is at an all-time high. According to a recent U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence report, cyber is now the number one threat to our nation's security. Large-scale data braches are happening more and more frequently, and many of the crimes that previously occurred in person are now committed or facilitated through the Internet. In this session, we'll discuss the growing need for cyberprofessionals and the resources that the Department of Homeland Security has for those interested in either securing a career in cyber or hiring professionals to improve their cyber workforce planning. DHS will also cover what you, as leaders in the higher education IT space, can do to help stimulate awareness and excitement around this up-and-coming career field.
