Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland recently solved a chronic helpdesk and customer service problem with a new, innovative, community focused approach. Rather than outsource the function (in a city that has already been ravaged by outsourcing) Case worked with a new company, PerceptIS which utilizes a shared services and demand aggregation model for service provisioning. PerceptIS pioneered a new concept called Local-Sourcing, retaining jobs and sustainable employment within the local economy.
