The Role of Synchronous Components in Distance Learning

The most common complaint students have about online learning is the absence of direct contact with instructors and other students. Online courses are predominantly asynchronous, with little opportunity for synchronous exchanges; however, simple strategies can be employed to build synchronicity into the online classroom to enhance learning and student satisfaction.
