START: Improving Security Through Network Registration

Georgia Tech recently developed START—Scanning Technology for Automated Registration, Repair, and Response Tasks—a custom registration system for its student housing networks. START forces unregistered users into a captive portal that scans for vulnerabilities prior to network admission, considerably improving security with minimal inconvenience to users.
