Shibboleth and Federated Environments

Wednesday, June 27, 2007 | 9:30AM–10:45AM | Pavilion Ballroom (Plaza Level)
Session Type: Professional Development
Once you've begun to use Shibboleth as your campus Web SSO, what are the issues in extending it to external service providers? What are the critical questions to ask when planning this type of service? What policy and process issues need to be addressed when noncampus users begin to access local resources? What's a federation, and what does it do? This session will offer guidance to help make the transition from intra- to interinstitutional use as easy and straightforward as possible. Also included will be characteristics of federating software that are important to operational load and integrity within a federation.
