Bits are Not Atoms: Does Digital Rights Management Go Against the Law (of Physics)?

Wednesday, January 17 | 11:30PM–11:30PM
Session Type: Resources
Copyright used to be about duplicating objects, made of atoms. Now it's about duplicating data, made of bits. Atoms and bits are fundamentally different. Are attempts to treat them the same, such as digital rights management, appropriate or are they doomed to failure? Come and discuss important digital rights issues with the EDUCAUSE Director of Policy and Networking Programs.
