The Internet as a Law Enforcement Tool: What's at Stake for Colleges and Universities?

Wednesday, May 16, 2007 | 8:00AM–8:00AM
Session Type: Resources
The Internet has become both a vehicle for cybercrime and a means to track and monitor user behavior. The law enforcement, legal, and civil libertarian communities are continually seeking to strike the right balance between law enforcement access for purposes of crime control (including safeguarding children) and the need to protect civil liberties. This session will explore the potential impact of data-retention legislation and other requirements for colleges and universities as Internet service providers.
