The U.S. research community in networking and distributed systems has articulated a case for rethinking the Internet infrastructure. NSF has been supporting this effort and initiated GENI, the Global Environment for Networking Innovations initiative, and FIND, the Future Internet Design research program. Subsequently, other countries have announced similar initiatives, and the commercial sector is taking considerable interest.ÊThis talk will present the case for rethinking the Internet infrastructure and will outline a few promising approaches.
