Sneakin' It In: Finding Opportunities for Information Literacy

Wednesday, February 25 | 11:45AM–12:30PM | Hidalgo Ballroom C
Session Type: Professional Development
We will describe models for integrating information technology skills into information literacy courses without compromising the quality of instruction. We will demonstrate how our institution has pursued true information literacy, using research skills and technology in the classroom to create equal parts skills and academic habits, while keeping students engaged in learning. We will review a program that over the past 10 years has achieved an integration of research strategies and skills such as web design, Office, Photoshop, blogs, and wikis. The goal has been to give students information literacy skills while remaining relevant to a variety of professional pursuits.
