Shibboleth Identity Management and Fedora Repository Architecture for a Statewide Cyberinfrastructure
Architecture for a Statewide CyberinfrastructureThe heart of the statewide NJVid digital video portal is a sophisticated Shibboleth implementation that supports participation by any educational or cultural heritage organization, from the smallest museum and K-12 to the largest university. Shibboleth and the service-oriented Fedora Commons repository architecture are used to create a sophisticated and flexible statewide cyberinfrastructure that provides trust, security, and long-term preservation and access for video assets. NJVid is viewed as the first of many services that will ultimately provide a complete digital information infrastructure for the New Jersey education and cultural heritage community. This presentation will focus on the integrated architecture, the development philosophy, the progress to date, and the open-source components currently available.
