Tuesday, March 16, 2010 | 9:30AM–10:15AM | King Arthur's Court/Third Floor
Session Type:
Professional Development
The content industry continues to battle peer-to-peer file sharing on campus and commercial networks, both with sticks (DMCA notices, three-strikes legislation) and with carrots (a growing number of authorized online content sources). Pre-settlement letters arrive from formerly unknown sources, while Choruss and Noank speak of new business models. New regulations have arrived nationally as part of the Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA) and, separately, in at least one state. In this session, you'll hear about the current status of these and other P2P issues, with a focus on the July 1 deadline for compliance with the HEOA.
