Session Type:
Professional Development
The University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee and Marquette University will discuss their respective trajectories in specifying, ordering, and deploying cluster computers of more than a 1,000 cores apiece in just a few months. UWM started from a position of having a cadre of new engineering faculty but no public, high-performance computer on campus. MU had relatively small clusters before receiving a major NSF grant to build capacity. The different paths to similar ends will be presented, along with plans for the two institutions to cooperate and share high-performance computing resources with others in the region.
