Friday, June 04, 2010 | 11:30AM–1:00PM | Plaza Ballroom (10th floor)
Session Type: Professional Development
Broadband services have profoundly impacted our ability to provide innovative networked services for teaching, learning, and research. By enabling access to digital resources, videoconferencing, and collaboration tools, broadband expands and extends educational opportunities to all. MCNC provides advanced network services and communications to public education in North Carolina through NCREN, the North Carolina Research and Education Network, and its mission and scope has grown in the past three years to include all of K–20 education on the NCREN backbone. This talk will address the current state of MCNC, including an overview of a recent $28.2 million broadband recovery award and its impact on education and rural broadband deployment in North Carolina.
